Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup Asia – Singapore

When the Formula 1 Grand Prix came to Singapore in 2008, SC Global committed to a six-year collaboration as ‘Event Title Partner’ of the inaugural Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (“PCCA”) race; the Asian edition of the enormously successful international Carrera Cup which supports several rounds of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Making its debut at the inaugural Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, the world’s first-ever night race; for this historic race, 49 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars dressed in SC Global livery lined up on the gridline on the Marina Bay Circuit with Singapore’s iconic skyline as a backdrop.

Not only does F1 epitomise the brand’s mantra of ‘The Ultimate Living’, but the partnership with Porsche was a natural fit. Porsche is synonymous with well-built, highly-engineered sports cars designed for real drivers providing the ultimate performance on the road. They build cars the way we design and create our residential properties. Both brands represent the very top within their respective industries and focus on a niche market that demands the very best at all levels.

Showcasing Singapore to the world as both a dynamic business centre and an idyllic home, the event quickly became the crown jewel in the Formula 1 calendar, boosting tourism and drawing massive numbers of overseas visitors for the race weekend. SC Global is proud to have been a part of an enormously successful event that helped put the spotlight firmly on Singapore through one of the most exciting sports in the world.

SC Global Racing

To make the event even more memorable and enjoyable for our guests and the local community, SC Global set up their own Singapore team SC Global Racing to compete in the Carrera Cup race dressed in SC Global livery throughout the six-year term. Sponsorship of a racing team demonstrated our deep commitment and multi-faceted support of the event, increasing the exposure and visibility of the SC Global brand to millions of viewers.

SC Global Art Car

Combining the excitement of F1 with the nurturing of design talent among the young. In 2011, the Group invited students from Singapore School of the Arts (SOTA) to design racing car livery for the SC Global racing team, giving them a unique opportunity to learn and apply their talents within a commercial environment. The winning designs were promoted as part of the pre-race activities, providing students with a unique opportunity to expose their creative talents to an international audience.

The collaboration was an exciting project for the students and was extended to include students from Nanyang Polytechnic and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts the following year. With over 365 competition entries, the calibre of the work received was very high with the winning designs displayed at Marina Bay Sands as part of the pre-race activities.
