The Five Legends of Mountbatten
Once the home of Singapore’s swimming legends – the family of Dr. Chan Ah Kow- Five Legends is a collection of four bungalows crowned by the beautifully restored Chansville Mansion.
The original bungalow occupying almost 78,000 sqft was given conservation status in 1993, and was split into five plots of land. Maintaining Chansville iconic original white facade, architect Mok Wei Wei kept the main conservation house intact whilst adding two new wings to the back of the house to create a total of six bedrooms. The extensions are linked to the main house by a double volume banquet hall that seats upto 20 people.
Dominant fins on the facade are a nod to the tropical Art Deco style of the original conservation house. The dining, living, and family rooms on the ground floor segue into each other. A glass-enclosed staircase acts as a screen seperating the front from the back of the house and leading to the four bedrooms upstairs.
